Inclusive Food Choices
When planning an event that will offer food, it is important to make sure all attendees will have options they can eat. Additionally, it is important to provide utensils (straws, silverware, plates, napkins) and food ingredient tags to make sure that everyone can enjoy the food being served safely!
Common Food Allergens to Consider when Finding Food Options
Milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, pistachios, Brazil nuts, soy, wheat, shellfish, shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, mussels, oysters, scallops, fish, sesame.
Food Ingredient Tags
Food ingredient tags should be placed in front of your food options. Ideally, these tags should list all ingredients in a dish. At the minimum, these labels should include if the food has meat, dairy, eggs, gluten/wheat, and any common allergens (see list above).
